Rapid tests with VIB technology
Oxford Nanopore Technologies developed rapid diagnostic tests that are used worldwide. The revolutionary DNA sequencing technology at the basis of these tests used technology developed by scientists at the VIB-VUB Center for Structural Biology.
Which treatment for which form?
Diagnostics and treatment often go hand in hand. How can we offer the optimal treatment to each COVID-19 patient when there are large differences in symptoms? Through detailed analysis the lung fluid of COVID-19 patients with pneumonia. For example, VIB, UZ Leuven, and KU Leuven are looking for leads to help doctors choose the best treatment. These insights can also lead to the development of new treatments.
Increased testing capacity
Expanding the national testing capacity was also a point of attention for us. With an internal task force, we have deployed our strengths to make this possible: technology, infrastructure, and motivated experienced employees.
